The 10th National Student Ophthalmology Conference will be held on December 12, 2020, the deadline for submitting abstracts is November 29, 2020. Detailed information about the conference is available at event website and in the conferences tab. We strongly encourage you to participate!

On November 17, 2020, the General Meeting of the Student Scientific Society was held. Due to the pandemic situation, the meeting was held online.

We said hello in the process the new Curator of the SUM Student Scientific Society, Professor Michał Holecki. At the same time, we would like to thank prof. Ph.D. n. med. Katarzyna Mizi-Stec for years of fruitful cooperation.

As a result of by-elections for the 2020/21 term, there were changes in the composition of the STN SUM Management Board. From now on, she will serve as Deputy Chairwoman Piotr Lewandowski from the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze, the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Bytom will be represented by Barbara Janota and Weronika Gwioździk, and the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze additionally by Maria Stec.

We also had the pleasure of announcing the results of the Student Science Clubs ranking. This year the highest places were achieved by:

Due to the epidemiological threat, together with the University Authorities, we decided to postpone the International Medical Congress of Silesia 2020 until autumn. Due to the above, the deadline for submitting abstracts will also be postponed.

We are pleased to announce that in the 2018/19 academic year the highest ranking Student Scientific Clubs were:
1st place – Student Scientific Club at the Center for Experimental Medicine (WNMK)
2nd place – Student Scientific Club at the Department and Rehabilitation Clinic (WNoZK)
3rd place – Student Scientific Club at the Department of Biophysics (WNF)

At the same time, we would like to inform you that by the decision of the Management Board of the Student Scientific Society of SUM in Katowice, the Regulations of the SKN Ranking have been changed. From the current academic year, the sum of points will be divided only by the number of club members in the final report.

In addition, the Management Board of the Student Scientific Society has adopted the Regulations for Granting Financing for Trips for the calendar year 2020.
